The NBX Telomere Genetic Test assesses biological (cellular) age, a representation of longevity at the cellular level. Telomeres are the endcaps of chromosomes that protect genetic information as it divides and replicates. However, telomeres shorten as we age, becoming less effective at facilitating healthy cell division. Maintaining cellular health is vital for extending a youthful appearance and optimal body function. Longer telomeres are associated with slowing the natural aging process.
The NBX Telomere Genetic Test utilizes a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) method of DNA testing. We estimate biological, or cellular, age based on telomere length using a simple buccal cheek swab.
